Iain Crawford


Completing the geographical spread of the group, Iain is from Kirkcaldy, Fife. A hugely versatile musician with diverse interests, Iain studied in New York, at the Julliard School, where he was a student of the late David Walter. Whilst there, he also studied at the world renowned Aspen Music Festival.


Co-Principal Bass of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra since 1994, he has taught bass at the RSAMD for over ten years, and given masterclasses in Europe, South America, China and the US.


As well as his orchestral and classical work, Iain is well known in traditional music circles, and has worked with musicians such as The Whistlebinkies and Emily Smith, as well as with The Alastair Savage Trio. He also worked as an arranger and co-producer on the band's albums.
